PROBoter is an open-source hardware and software platform designed to automate PCB security analysis, featuring up to four probes, integrated high-resolution imaging, automated calibration, and neural-network-based visual analysis to locate components and pins. It aims to reduce repetitive manual tasks in embedded security assessments and centralize results for collaboration, presented as Part I of a four-part series. The article outlines the manual process, the automation scope, and planned future work.
