Apps targeted at US troops contain Chinese and Russian code

A study of hundreds of mobile apps marketed to US military personnel found that more than one in eight contained foreign code, with 64% integrating third-party SDKs. About 40% of apps collected or shared more data than disclosed in listings, and roughly 7% carried code from adversarial nations such as China and Russia. Huawei HMS Core was found in 12 apps; while there was no evidence data was currently flowing to Huawei, the inclusion of such SDKs poses future risk, underscoring privacy concerns for military users and a need for tighter vetting and policy.
