Ars Technica reports that the Model Context Protocol (MCP) has its largest update since launch, introducing a stateless core to improve reliability and enterprise scalability. The release adds multi-round-trip requests, header-based routing, cacheable list results, authorization hardening, and an extensions framework, plus a deprecation policy ensuring at least 12 months between deprecation and removal. MCP is managed by the AAIF under the Linux Foundation, with participation from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
