Harvard SEAS researchers developed Mobilio, a smartphone app that uses AI, sensor fusion, and personalized audio cues to help blind or low-vision users navigate with turn-by-turn guidance and obstacle avoidance. Early tests show Mobilio + cane enables faster outdoor navigation and fewer obstacle contacts than Google Maps + cane, with real-time audio feedback tailored to the user. The project plans broader testing and commercialization opportunities.
