Ecosia and Qwant launch German web index
Summary
Heise reports that Ecosia and Qwant have launched a German web index via the European Search Perspective (EUSP), creating an independent infrastructure for German search results. The move aims to reduce reliance on US-based search providers and bolster European digital sovereignty, with open access through the Staan API for partners and ties to EU DMA enforcement and broader geopolitics surrounding AI and data.
