Epic says its new vibe-coded Epic Games Launcher is faster than Steam
Summary
Ars Technica covers Epic's new Preview version of the Epic Games Launcher, which is described as “vibe coded” and reportedly faster than Steam. The piece notes that AI was used as a tool to write and review features, the launcher is built from scratch to support Windows, Mac, with a Linux version planned, and that the Preview will have bugs and limited features. Epic positions the move as part of a broader shift toward AI-assisted development and a storefront rearchitecture.
