Bark: The Toll-Free BBS for 90s Teens
Summary
A nostalgic, first-person retrospective on Bark, the toll-free BBS for 90s teens. The piece recounts dialing into BARK with a modem, using QWK offline mail readers like Blue Wave, the vibrant but chaotic community, and the eventual funding withdrawal by PolyGram that ended Bark. It also situates Bark in the broader history of toll-free BBSes and links to archival resources and related memories.
