Sanity's Edge – A voice BBS from 1994
Summary
Sanity's Edge was a 1994-1997 voice BBS in Tampa, accessible only by telephone, built around a 286 PC and a bespoke BigmOuth platform. The archive included thousands of audio messages and nine message bases, created by Max Rathbone and his father (Dr. Null). In 2026, AI tools and a Reverse Engineer Anything workflow helped decode the proprietary audio format and reconstruct missing source, enabling faithful digital preservation.
