MicroG: Free-libre re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space
Summary
MicroG GmsCore is a free software reimplementation of Google's Play Services for Android on AOSP-based ROMs. It aims to reclaim user privacy and freedom by providing Google API compatibility without the proprietary stack, though apps may still use proprietary libraries. The project is open source under Apache 2.0 and requires signature spoofing for full functionality.
